James Fisher

September 2, 1956 — September 23, 2019

Goodland, KS

Goodland, Kansas resident James Lynn Fisher passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Topside Manor in Goodland.  He was 63 years old.

James was born on September 2, 1956 in Utah. He was the third born child of Ramon LeDell and Thelma Mae (Summers) Fisher.  He was one of eight children.

As a young adult, with a wife and children, he received his GED from Colby Community College and then went on to get a license in Carpentry.  He worked as a carpenter until mental health made it impossible. He spent the rest of his life helping others as he encountered them on the road of his life’s journey.

James had a deep love for Christ and participated in the ministry of his church until his physical health made it difficult. He also had a talent and a love of playing the guitar. James loved to play Santa for the youngest of his nieces and nephews at the family Christmas dinner. What he was most proud of was having purchased and maintained his own trailer and of being self reliant and independent in spite of his mental health issues.

Preceding him in death were four grandparents (Neff and Erma Fisher) and (Arther and Daisy Summers), his parents (Ramon and Thelma Fisher), one brother (David Fisher), one niece (Ann Marie Fisher), and two nephews (Ashton Lucas and Josiah Lucas).

He is survived by his two sons Gary (Jenny) Fisher of Abilene, Minnesota and Alan (Jessica) Fisher of Buffalo Center, Iowa.  He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Mary Yanez of Goodland, KS, Sheri (Gabriel) Arroyo of Kanorado, KS, Gary (Brenda) Fisher of Goodland, KS, Kathryn Kufahl of Colby, KS, Kenny (Sylvia) Fisher of Goodland, KS and Raymond (Marlene) Fisher of Goodland, KS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
