Raenita Artzer

April 9, 1940 — December 5, 2013

Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Raenita Mae Artzer, 73, died Thursday, December 5, 2013, at her home.  She was born April 9, 1940, at Vona, Colorado, the daughter of Marjorie (Finley) and Raymond Monroe.  She graduated from high school in Seibert, Colorado.

On May 7, 1960, she and Donald Artzer were married at Sterling, Colorado, and they made their home at Windsor, Colorado.  In 1967, they moved to Goodland to make their home.  Raenita had worked at Great Western Sugar and Safeway. She served as a dispatcher with the Goodland Police Department, a Matron with the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office, an Enforcement Officer with Community Corrections, and a Reports Clerk     with the Sherman County Attorney’s Office, working with Bonnie Selby. In 2005, she retired after over twenty years of public service.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, bowling, working in her rose garden, playing bingo, having coffee with friends, and taking trips to the mountains.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister Goldie Marie Conroy, and two infant brothers.

Surviving family includes her husband Donald Artzer of Goodland; two daughters Machera Diaz and her husband Raul of Burlington, Colorado; Gail Owens and her husband Brent of Goodland; son Jason Artzer and his wife Kim of Goodland; seven grandchildren Ashley Franz and her husband Shawn of Burlington, Colorado; Paul Diaz of Burlington, Colorado; Brandon Diaz of Burlington, Colorado; Nichell Lowery and her husband Dusty of Beloit; Russell Owens and his wife Candi of Edson; Koal Artzer of Goodland; Jade Artzer of Goodland; eleven great-grandchildren Lila, Trapp, and Trayl Lowery; Jordin, Addison, and Blade Owens; Kalyn and Dylan Franz; Koda, McKaylen, and Xander; and nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, December 10, at 10:00 AM MT, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Father Norbert Dlabal presiding.  Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.

Friends may share their respects on Monday, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel.  Memorials may be designated to Knights of Columbus # 1993, and may be left at or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
