Paul Eugene Lutters, 49, passed away at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington, CO on Thursday, May 8, 2025. He was born on January 4, 1976 in Goodland, KS, to Chuck Lutters and Marian Dressman. Paul had his older sister Genevieve to welcome him home. His younger brother Derrick joined them four years later.
Paul was raised in Goodland and attended school in Goodland, graduating in 1994. He enjoyed wrestling in high school. He enlisted in the Air Force right out of high school. When he returned home, he went to the Vocational Technical School in Goodland where he earned his degree in Communication Technology. He was hired right out of college and moved to Kansas City, and then Canton, MO. He joined the National Guard with Derrick while in Goodland.
When he was still in school, he met Christina Paintin. She moved to Canton where they were married. They raised 3 wonderful kids, Zoe, Grace and JD. In 2008, Paul transferred to Burlington with his family. He was a wonderful dad. He loved spending time with his kids.
Paul was very active in his children’s activities, volunteering and helping with fundraisers. He worked with the Boy Scouts and youth football and was the announcer at the swim meets. He missed very few of their events.
Paul was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Burlington, where he devoted much of his time. He spent lots of his time helping with Bingo and always loved making his special potato salad for the fish fries. Paul got JD involved as they loved cooking together.
Paul loved gardening and was always sharing his harvest with his neighbors and friends. He loved trying new seeds and plants and ways to help the plants survive. He even won the Garden of the Month.
What Paul loved to do most was try new recipes or create his own special dishes. He could be seen in the grocery store buying the necessary ingredient to make his new dish and also sharing recipes with friends and family. Some incredible dishes came from his kitchen. His family was always involved in putting the dishes together.
Paul taught his children many things from using a gun safely to throwing axes. He also loved to golf and helped Zoe, Grace and JD learn to enjoy the sport.
He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Burlington, CO. He loved to be the door tender. He loved to welcome the congregation and yes, talk to some as he ushered them in.
