Longtime Wallace County, Kansas resident Milford B. Becker, 71, passed away on September 21, 2012, at Sharon Springs.

He was born on June 11, 1941, in Wallace County, Kansas, the son of Agnes B. (Kruse) and Alois P. Becker.  He was raised in the Dinas Community.

Milford farmed for several years and retired from the Wallace County Road Department in 2004, where he worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator.  Milford enjoyed working with wood and spent some of his spare time building small wooden toy trucks and other items.  His greatest pleasure, however, was his garden.  He raised the best popcorn in Western Kansas, along with his pumpkins, turnips, and radishes.  Numerous people reaped the benefits of Milford’s roto-tilling of their gardens and lawns, and re-seeding grass.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister Bernice M. Becker.  Milford’s pet Yorkie dog “Cash” preceded him in death, as well.

Milford was the youngest of three children and he is survived by his brother Kenny H. Becker and his wife Ginger.  Also surviving are three nieces and their children.

The memorial service will be Thursday, October 4, at 2:00 PM MT, at Koons Funeral Home in Sharon Springs, with Reverend Paul McNall officiating.  Private inurnment will be in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.

Memorials may be designated to Fort Wallace Memorial Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice, and they may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N Main, Goodland, KS   67735-1555.
