Louise Moyer

Goodland, Kansas resident Louise Ruth Moyer, 72, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society—Sherman County in Goodland.

She was born July 24, 1941, at Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Elma Ruth (Nussman) and Ralph Griffith Widener.  She graduated from Central High School in Pueblo, Colorado, with the class of 1959.

On June 24, 1959, she and Lawrence James “Larry” Mantey were married at Pueblo, Colorado.   She had worked at laundromats and dry cleaners shops.  Larry preceded her in death in 1994.

On March 18, 1995, Louise and Robert Luther “Bob” Moyer were married at Pikes Peak United Methodist Church.  They moved to Goodland in 2001 to make their home.  Hobbies that she enjoyed were gardening, reading, and attending auctions.  Her memberships included First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, and the Auxiliaries of Veterans of Foreign Wars—Lowell Coleman Post 1133 and American Legion Post 117.

Preceding her in death were her first husband Larry Mantey and her parents.

Surviving family includes her husband Bob Moyer of Goodland; son Jayme Mantey and his wife Lora of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter Kathy Cometto and her husband Isadoro of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister Frances Doris Ashcraft and her husband James of San Diego, California; step-sons Robert Moyer and his wife Jeanne of Peoria, Arizona; Thomas Moyer and his wife Denise of Widefield, Colorado; step-daughters JoAnn Campbell of Rome, New York; Diana Feese of Chillicothe, Missouri; brother-in-law Harold Moyer of Wernersville, Pennsylvania; six step-grandchildren Courtney Moyer, Shelby Moyer, Elric Moyer, Aeden Moyer, Jennifer Palmer, Corey Feese; one step-great-granddaughter Logan Palmer.

The memorial service will be on Saturday, December 7, at 2:30 PM MT, at First United Methodist Church in Goodland, with Reverend Shelly Petz officiating.  Inurnment will be at a later date in the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.

Memorials may be designated to First United Methodist Church, and may be left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
