Lifelong Goodland, Kansas resident Lois Elaine Sieck, 84, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023 at the Goodland Regional Medical Center with her children by her side.
Lois was born on December 12, 1938 in Goodland, Kansas to Oren Milton and Pearl Marie (Gernhart) Parish. She was one of three children. She had an older sister, Lila Mary and a younger brother, Lewis Oren. They lived on a farm south of Ruleton, Kansas. Lois attended eight years at Ruleton Consolidated School and then four years at Goodland High School, where she graduated from in 1956.
On June 3, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Ray Henry Sieck from Edson, Kansas. To this union of love, 4 children would be born; Tony Ray, Kristi Kaye, Todd Loy and Karma Jo. She spent most of her life helping her folks and Ray on the farm, while raising their children. She enjoyed her nine years as a Tourist Information Counselor for the State of Kansas.
Lois served six years as a Northwest Kansas Regional Medical Center Board Member and Officer. She was active in the United Methodist Church where she served on the United Methodist Trustees, Pastor Parish, Finance Committee and in United Methodist Church Circle Five. Lois had been active in 4H leadership, Red Hatters and Goodland P.E.O.
After losing her husband in 1995 at the young age of fifty-seven, she organized and led a singles group that gathered twice a week for six years.
Lois loved being a wife, mom, grandmother and a friend. She enjoyed many hobbies including designing floral arrangements, flower gardening, writing poetry, cooking, baking, and playing cards.
Preceding her in death were her parents Oren and Pearl, husband Ray, son Todd, brother Lew and a sister Lila.
Lois is survived by her children Karma (Greg) Keirns of Eloy, Arizona, Kristi (Gary) Clabo of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Tony (Rhonda) Sieck of Scott City, Kansas. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Christopher Clabo of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hunter Clabo of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Derek Keirns of Scottsdale, Arizona and Darby Keirns of Phoenix, Arizona. She is survived by two step grandchildren Patrick Drennan of Wichita, Kansas and Andrew (Amanda) Drennan of Goodland, Kansas. She is also survived by five step great grandchildren: Carson, Jackson, Brooke, Blake and Cameron.
A Celebration of Life Service for Lois will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM MST at the Goodland United Methodist Church with Pastor Younghwan Won officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be designated to the Goodland United Methodist Church and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
