Leona Louise Buell

Longtime Wallace, KS resident Leona Louise Buell, 88, passed away at Hope Springs in Sharon Springs, KS on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Leona was born on October 18, 1937 in Hugoton, KS to Theodore and Annabelle (Little) Weehunt. She was one of four children.

She grew up in Lakin and attended school there before the family moved to Sharon Springs where she attended school through the 10th grade. In 1955 she married Floyd E. Buell in Colby, KS. To this union two children Janet and Anthony were born.

Leona worked most of her life as a rancher and farmer on the family farm near Wallace.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her daughter Janet Buell, one grandson Denton Buell, and three brothers; Loren Dale, Ronald Dean and Darrell Wayne Weehunt.

She is survived by her son Anthony (Louise) Buell of Wallace, three grandsons; Houston (Shianne) Buell of Wallace, Austin Buell of Sharon Springs and Dallas (Samantha) Buell of Wallace, as well as five great grandchildren Wyatt, Dawson, Felicity, Brystal and Keaton Buell.
