Lydia Maurine Mauch, 103, passed away at her home (The Legacy) in Burlington, Colorado on June 14, 2025. She was born on February 14, 1922 to Dwyer and Inez (Fegely) Todd in Ainsworth, NE. She attended Rock County High School and graduated in 1941, and then attended Barnes Business College in Denver.
Maurine was united in marriage to Jack Mauch on October 7, 1945, in Greeley CO. This union was blessed with three children, Cheryl, John, and Ron.
Maurine and Jack’s life was centered around the retail grocery business where they worked as a team at the Save U Market. She was the bookkeeper for over 30 years. In 1981 they sold the business and leased the building to Safeway and then retired to Sun City, AZ. Maurine and Jack returned to Burlington permanently in 2001.
Maurine had many interests and activities that kept her busy. She was a member of the Quo Vadis Club, the VFW Auxillary, bowling and golfing leagues, and was a leader for Brownies and Cub Scouts. She and Jack enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling and attending Bronco, CU Buffalo, and the Arizona State Sun Devil games.
She accepted the Lord early in life and attended Sunday school and church in Bassett, NE. Maurine was an active member in the United Methodist Church in Burlington, CO. She taught Sunday school and was active in the morning UMW circle. Maurine was instrumental in starting the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She knitted over 140 shawls and continued to knit until the last few weeks of her life.
Maurine often questioned why God allowed her to live so long. Everyone around her was blessed by her positive outlook and her joy for life. She never complained. People saw God’s love through her.
Maurine was preceded in death by her husband Jack Mauch, her parents Dwyer and Inez Todd, and her brother Don Todd.
She is survived by her children Cheryl Franken of Lincoln NE, John (Diana) Mauch of Burlington CO, and Ron (Diane) Mauch of Edmond, Ok. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Nick (Julia) Franken, Kori Runge, Jordan Price, Jocelyn (Jesse) Boyd, Angela (Robbyn) Mauch, Zach (Charity) Mauch, and 12 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be designated to the Burlington United Methodist Church or to the William Hogate VFW Post 6491 and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave, Goodland KS 67735.
