Joyce L. Nemechek, 92, passed away at the Greeley County Long Term Care on Thursday, March 2, 2023, in Tribune, Kansas.
She was born on February 5, 1931, in Horace, Kansas, to parents Herman and Iva Rhea Smith, who preceded her in death. She married Bernard (Bernie) Nemechek on May 20, 1948, in Sharon Springs, Kansas.
Joyce is survived by her children Trudy and John Thorburn, Buffalo, Wyoming; Brent and Beth Nemechek, Garden City, Kansas, and Blake and Carmelle Nemechek, Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Nicole Thorburn, Jenna Thorburn, Amy and Pete Michalczyk, Rhett Thorburn, Nick and Jenifer Nemechek, Andrew Nemechek, Cody Nemechek, and great-grandchildren Madelyn, Gabrielle, Addison, Hayden, Payton, Rylee, Harper and Hadley. Husband Bernie and sisters Margaret Shacklett, Lee Kimball, Jean Cobb, and Wanda Vester, and brothers Herman Smith Jr. and Eldon Smith preceded her in death.
Joyce and Bernie owned and operated Southside Service in Tribune, Kansas, for many years and retired to Sun City, Ariona. Joyce was an avid golfer and enjoyed a hole-in-one in her 80s. She loved spending time with her grandchildren teaching them to play golf and tennis. Joyce and Bernie moved back to Tribune in 2012 due to declining health. She and Bernie were faithful members of the United Methodist Church in Tribune and Sun City. They loved their faith, their family, and each other. With her passing, Bernie and Joyce are reunited to celebrate their faith and love in the heavens above.
Joyce will be laid to rest in the Greeley County Cemetery alongside her beloved husband following graveside services at a later date.
