Helen Jane (Keister) Larson, age 81, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas.
Helen was born October 24, 1932, to Dan and Rachel (Blehm) Keister. She attended various grade schools in Colorado, graduated from Weskan High School in 1951, and remained a Wallace County resident for the rest of her life. On September 2, 1951, she married Floyd Larson at the Methodist Church in Sharon Springs, Kansas.
Helen was a member of Dinas Grange, Dinas Community Club, Sharon Lutheran Church, and was on the board of the Fort Wallace Museum. She served for years on the local Hospice Board of Directors, and served in various aspects through the Wallace County 4-H and Extension. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, cooking, knitting, baking, and candy making.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Rachel Keister; one brother Dale Keister; her daughter Beverly (Larson) Deines; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include her husband Floyd Larson; one brother Harry Keister and his wife Wanda, all of Sharon Springs; one brother Sam Keister and his wife Reva of McPherson, Kansas; four children Rhonda Mears of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; Dan Larson and his wife Becky (Umscheid) of Sharon Springs, Kansas; Lori Borg and her husband Stan of Hillsboro, Kansas; Cari Wasson and her husband Brad of Dodge City, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at 10:30 am (MST) at the United Methodist Church in Sharon Springs, Kansas, with Phil Knox, PMA, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM MT, at Koons Funeral Home in Sharon Springs.
Memorials may be designated to the Helen Larson Memorial Fund, and left at the service or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
