Former Goodland, Kansas resident Wade Cummings, 90, died Saturday, March 14, 2015.
He was born May 14, 1924, at Grainfield, Kansas, the son of Minnie Elise (Lantz) and Roy Franklin Cummings. He graduated from high school at Greenfield, Missouri. From 1943 through 1945, he served his country in the United States Army.
On September 22, 1949, he and Mary Elaine Bowman were married at Wallace, Kansas. He had worked as a grain elevator manager and later as a mail carrier. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Preceding him in death were two grandsons Baron Burrier and Brian Cummings; his parents; two sisters Evelyn and Muriel; and brother Buddy.
Surviving family includes his wife Mary Cummings of Goodland; eight children Diane Owens and her husband Darrell of Goodland; Warren Cummings and his wife Judy of Limon, Colorado; Roy Cummings and his wife Toni of Goodland; Ann Hasenbalg and her husband Ron of Byers, Colorado; Barry Cummings and his wife Linda of Billings, Montana; Donna Ilves and her husband Rob of Horseshoe Beach, Florida; Eric Cummings; and Jana Garin and her husband David of Parker, Colorado; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters Juanita “Toots” Griffin of Denver, Colorado; and June Crossman of Seattle, Washington.
The Vigil and Rosary will be on Tuesday, March 17, at 6:00 PM MT, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, with Sister Janet Le Duc leading. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March 18, at 10:00 AM MT, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, with Father Norbert Dlabal presiding. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Memorials may be designated to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
