Gary L. Weber, 77, of Sylvan Grove, KS passed away July 31, 2025.
He was born on June 19, 1948 in Colby, KS to Charlie and Eunice Weber. Gary grew up in Goodland, KS and graduated in 1966 from Goodland High School. In high school, he was noted for his athleticism and held a record in track and was also an avid baseball player. He served in the Kansas National Guard. He worked for Air Midwest Airline in Great Bend, KS prior to starting his greyhound racing career. Gary raced greyhounds for 35 years in Colorado, Kansas, Florida, and Texas. His legendary dog NIMBY TP JAN was awarded the Flashy Sir award in 2005, deeming her the fastest dog in America. She was also a member of the All American team in 2005.
Upon the closure of dog racing tracks in 2008, Gary assumed raising Angus cattle. He actively participated in the cattle business with his grandson, Blayne, until the time of his death.
Gary’s most notable traits were his honesty and generosity, but not to surpass his loyalty to the Denver Broncos.
Survivors are his wife, AnnaMary of Sylvan Grove, KS; sons Derek Weber, Loveland, CO; Dusty (Kayla) Weber, Walden CO. Grandchildren Blayne Weber, Sylvan Grove, KS; Brooklyn Weber, Walden, CO; Callie Weber, Loveland, CO; Allen Weber, Ft. Collins, CO. Brothers Dennis (Patty) Weber, Hays, KS; Jim (Sandy) Weber, Burlington, CO. Sisters Debbie (Mark) Nider, Burlington, CO; Lori (Jerry) Amthor, Goodland, KS; Becky (Steve) Wishcop, Berthoud, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Jeffery Lee Weber and a sister Shirley (David) Endres, Spearville, KS.
In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be made out to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
