Donald Joseph Johnson

Goodland, KS resident Donald Joseph Johnson, 65, passed away at his home north of Ruleton on Friday, July 4, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Joe was born on March 9, 1960 in Ashland, KY to Duane J. and Betty Ann (Kulzer) Johnson. He was one of 5 children. He graduated from North Sargent High School in Gwinner, ND in 1978.

Joe loved working on and especially riding his motorcycles. He also enjoyed helping his son and friend Austin work their cattle and hauling hay. Before retirement, Joe was the operations manager at Rooks Fabrication Weld Shop.

On March 26, 1999, Joe married Dawn Marie Keller in Sterling, Colorado.

Joe is survived by his wife Dawn Johnson of the home, his daughter Amy Holman of Sterling, CO, his son Matt (Marci) Johnson of Goodland, KS, his parents Duane and Betty Johnson of Gwinner, ND, as well as 3 step children; Jennifer (Josh) Anderson of Moorhead, MN, Shane (Aneta) Murphy of Palmer, AK and Bridget (Jeremiah) Bohn of Lisbon, ND. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Dylan, Bode, Cooper, Taylor, John, Clodagh and Iver, 4 great grandchildren and another on the way, plus his 4 siblings; Sandy (Arlen) Hanson, Michael Johnson, Justin (Kristal) Johnson and Christopher Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 19, 2025 at 11:30 AM MT at the family’s residence north of Ruleton.
