Debra Jean Fixsen

Goodland, Kansas

Lifelong Goodland, KS resident Debra Jean Fixsen, 71, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland.

Deb was born on December 6, 1952 in Goodland to Harold G. and Ella Mildred (Franke) Neidermeyer.  She was one of four children.  She attended school in Goodland and graduated from Goodland High School in 1970, and then attended Fort Hays State University for one year.  On August 18, 1972, she married Randall L. Fixsen in Goodland.  To this union, two children Brandon and Clayton were born.

Deb met her husband, Randall, during their days at Fort Hays State University. They worked together for many years at Fixsen Electronics. She was known as “Dealin’ Deb” for over 30 years while she managed the business.

Deb enjoyed motherhood, raising her two boys and supporting them in all of their efforts. She especially adored her four grandchildren.

Deb was an avid quilter and participated in many quilting trips and conventions. She enjoyed all aspects of socializing, but especially playing pickleball and attending exercise classes. She regarded her friends as family. Deb was kind-hearted and willing to help anyone, anytime.

Little known is the fact that Deb was quite skilled as a marksman and enjoyed target shooting with pistols and rifles. She also enjoyed attending car shows with Randall.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her son Clayton, a sister Linda Wright and one brother John Neidermeyer.

Surviving family includes her husband Randall of the home in Goodland, a son Brandon (Sara) Fixsen of Olathe, KS, and a son-in-law Todd Messenger of Overland Park, KS.  She is also survived by four grandchildren; Ella, Logan, Palmer and Oliver Fixsen, as well as one sister Sandra (William) Becker.

A Come and Go Celebration of Life for Deb will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland.  Private family inurnment will be held in the Goodland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Sherman County Community Foundation and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
