Beverly June Frailey

Beverly June Frailey passed away peacefully in Goodland, KS on June 30th 2026 at the age of 88. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt sister and friend.

Beverly was born on February 2, 1938 at the family farm in rural Cheyenne County, KS to Warren and Wilma (Wandersee) Burk. In the fall of 1939, they moved to their own farm north of Brewster, KS, where she was raised to adulthood.

Beverly started her younger years of schooling at a nearby country school until she went to school in Brewster and graduated High School.

In 1960, she married the love of her life Donald Frailey in Goodland, KS. To this union, one child was born, Jacqueline Lynn.

Beverly started her work career working at the telephone company in Brewster. Bev and Don moved to Denver briefly until they moved to Tribune, KS, where they owned and operated their own motel for many years. After selling their motel, they moved back to the Goodland/Brewster area where they farmed for many years. After Don’s passing, she kept farming and caring for her mother until the sale of the farm.

Beverly became a devoted grandmother to Tanner James Schmidt on November 27, 1996, to whom she loved dearly. Bev’s greatest joy was Jackie, Gary and Tanner. With Bev being a phenomenal cook, she loved working especially in the food service business. She ended her work career at Wheat Ridge Retirement Center in Goodland.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents Warren and Wilma Burk, her daughter Jackie, a brother Jerry Burk, a sister Shirley Lantz, a nephew Todd Lantz, an aunt Alma Wandersee and a brother-in-law Larry Seligman.

She is survived by her grandson Tanner Schmidt (Lizzie Leiker) of Hays, KS, her son-in-law Gary Schmidt of Goodland, KS, one sister Janice Seligman of McCook, NE, one brother Wesley (Dolores) Burk of Stratton, NE and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Per Beverly’s wishes, cremation was chosen and a small family graveside service will be held at a later date.
