Archie Wicke

Longtime Goodland, Kansas resident Archie Eric Wicke, 73, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

He was born December 29, 1939, at Palisade, Nebraska, the son of Rosella (McKillip) and Eric Herman Wicke.  He graduated from high school at Atwood, Kansas, and then furthered his education at Business School in Denver, Colorado, and at Fort Hays State University in Hays.

On June 14, 1962, he and Patricia Ann Herrman were married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland.  They made their home in Goodland, where he was City Clerk for twenty-three years. Later, he was bookkeeper for Shores Brothers.  He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents Eric and Rosella Wicke; an infant brother Phillip; parents-in-law Frank and Lena Herrman; brother-in-law Grady Elder; and nephew Mark Johnson.

Surviving family includes his wife Patricia Wicke of Goodland; siblings Rita Koehn and her husband Gary of Seattle, Washington; Debra Bayless and her husband Tom of Parsons, Kansas; Linda Elder of LaCygne, Kansas; Mary Lou Haller and her husband Louis of Denver, Colorado; Frank Herrman and his wife Alice of Salina, Kansas; Ron Herrman of Alliance, Nebraska; Sharon Hartman and her husband John of Clifton, Kansas; Linda Miller and her husband Curt of Salina, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may share their respects at Koons Chapel in Goodland on Thursday, May 23, from 3:00 until 6:00 PM MT, with vigil following at 6:00 PM MT.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, on Friday, May 24, at 10:00 AM MT, with burial following in the Goodland Cemetery.
