Sharon Springs, KS

Lifelong Sharon Springs, Kansas resident Oxby Mai Brooks, 4, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Oxby was born on April 9, 2018 in Goodland, Kansas to Daniel J. and Kelsey L. (Mai) Brooks.  He was an older brother to Ebbot Brooks.

If you knew Oxby, you knew a force.  He spoke very well and very clearly from the age of 18 months. He had a better vocabulary than a lot of adults.  He was never afraid to tell you what he thought. He liked nothing better than watching his mama cook. He also enjoyed watching cartoons, playing legos and dressing up like spiderman.  He hiked the brown, green and red mountains.  He was a prolific artist and produced hundreds of drawings with pen and paper.  His favorite foods were sardines, watermelon, vanilla ice cream and chocolate. He also enjoyed a good glass of milk.

Preceding him in death was his paternal great grandfather Carl Brooks.

Surviving family includes his mom and dad Daniel and Kelsey Brooks and his brother Ebbot Brooks all of Sharon Springs, KS, his paternal grandparents Lesley and David Brooks of Colorado, his paternal great grandmother Charlotte Brooks of Indianapolis, IN and his maternal grandparents David and Linda Mai of Sharon Springs, KS.

An Informal Celebration of Life and Reception will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM MT at the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church in Sharon Springs.  The family is asking for everyone to dress casually and to wear Blue in honor of Oxby.
